Favorites Time!

Here are my favorites for the month of January and the first favorites of the year! It has been awhile because I haven't been using different products lately. Again I mention in my past blogs that I am just breaking out of old habits and shedding my old skin. I adventured out of the norm and tried new products. I am still using them up to date because I am loving them still. So beware of repeats in February!

Products Mentioned & Mini Review:

Walmart Synthetic Angled Brush:
Super soft, picks up a good amount of product, inexpensive and applies product easily

Benefit's Boi ing Concealer in 02:
Conceals my blemishes, doesn't break me out, matches my skintone pretty well, lasting power is average

MAC's Paintpot in Painterly:
Perfect to conceal my stray eyebrow hairs, perfect color for a base, perfect base for nude eyeshadows, keeps my eyeshadow in place. One of the downsides: it dries pretty easily if you are not careful closing the packaging

Stila's eye kajal in Topaz:
perfect to brighten up the eye area, less harsh than a pure white eyeliner, stays on my waterline the whole day, soft creamy texture, super natural

Loreal Lineur Intense in Carbon Black:
easy for beginners, felt tip is precise, black eyeliner, does not streak, easy application

Lorac Pro Palette:
love the color variety, perfect combination of mattes and metallics, lots of eyeshadows, comes with a eye primer, couple bucks cheaper than the Urban Decay Naked palettes

Jemma Kidd's Perfect Blush in 02 South Beach:
perfect natural shade, cute packaging (other than it falling out of its packaging), applies as a satin finish

Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten in Honeydipped:
baked blush/bronzer, love the shade, natural shimmer and tone, comparable to MAC's mineralized skinfinishes

MAC's powder blush in Blunt:
little goes a long way, perfect contouring shade, blendable, easy to apply

OCC lip tars:
little goes a long way, easy application, opaque, wide color range, unique colors, long wearing, matte finish-stain finish, downside: feathers out

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Smoothing Serum:
smells great, not to tacky, doesnt weigh down my hair, makes my hair appear healthy, keeps my hair sleek and shiny, protects it from heat damage, packaging makes application easier.

Coming into full cicle

This will possibly be one of my shorter blogs. I just couldn't wait to blog about this. So as most of you already know, I am taking this part of my life seriously (blogging, writing/filming reviews, my makeup facebook, youtube, etc). I am so motivated that I can't wait to go home and start reading my Lauren Conrad book and start blogging some more. I finally found my stress relief from work!

The reason why I wanted to blog today was because of a meeting that happened at work. Let's be honest working in retail isn't really icing on the cake, especially if you have been working in retail since 2007. Already in a happy mood because of all the inspiration I have been seeking, I felt like today would go smoothly. Little did I know one transaction would change my path to my career. No I am not saying that I will no longer go to cosmetology school, more like Im skipping a step. As I was ringing up a customer I noticed her huge Sephora shopping bag. I asked her what she had purchase since her bag was so huge! In my head I was wishing I had enough money to even fill the Sephora bag up.. OR to even just receive such a large shopping bag. She mentioned she just received Benefit products. THEN she reaches into her bag and hands me a Benefit "They're Real" mascara (FULL SIZE)! I seriously was in shock. I couldn't believe some random person was giving me her mascara. My coworker told the customer that she had made my day. I didn't hesitate to agree with my coworker. I even said it was as if she just asked me out on a date. As I was ringing her up and finishing up her transaction, we talked about how I was a freelance makeup artist and that I wanted to work in Sephora. AND WALAH she so happens to work at Sephora HQ! I asked about how I could even start out in a business like Sephora, she gives me her contact info and there we are ladies and gents.. on the road to success. I would never in my life ask some random person for their contact information even if it were to benefit me. I might come off all confident and driven but there are a lot of aspects in my life that set me back from showing my real potential. I was already red and teary eyed in front of the lady so what could go wrong? I went ahead and asked her for her contact info and hopefully I could get my foot in the door and start off somewhere! I would really love to be apart of their pro team and travel around the world and inform all my followers and viewers of the best products out there.

I know that the story might be a bore to some or not even as WOW as I describe it, but to those who really know me, know that THIS IS MY DREAM. I am finally living it and because I am so passionate about this topic, this lady's contribution still has me in shock. It's like someone up there is watching over me and leading me into the right directions. In case you have no idea of what product she handed me.. Here's a picture:

A Start on my Future

So if you do not already follow me on instagram... Well what are you waiting for? My username is trixntips. Update on my life: coming back from a vacation is always rough on me because I enjoy my leisure time. Do not get me wrong I really did miss working (I know ironic to admit). Like I mentioned in my previous blog I fell in love with Southern California. At this time of the year it was so peaceful to be at Coronado Beach. First of all it was beautiful and clean! I barely see any beaches that clean in Northern California. But I love the city (San Francisco) so I guess it balances out. Speaking of the city, working it in could be so stressful sometimes. Sometimes I just want "me" time.

On the lines of me time, I am finally taking charge of my life. For instance, I usually sleep the whole day during my days off but this time around I thought I would be productive. I did wake up around 10am so not so early. I started cleaning my room, finally unpacking my clothes from my trip and getting rid of clothes I no longer use. I seriously started feeling a bit overwhelmed with my clean up project. I have a ways to go still. I decided to take a power nap around 2pm and read a book to sleep. This book is more like a beauty bible to me. I have already read a little less than halfway through it. Thanks to my supportive boyfriend we went to Barnes and Noble last night and bought $80 worth of my so called beauty bibles. He purchased half of it. His reasoning is because he wants to contribute to my dream. Never in my life had I have someone strongly believe in me well for being ME. Of course my best friends are very supportive as well and my family. BUT this man has giving me so much motivation within the last two years of my upbringing. I started reading Lauren Conrads Beauty book as soon as we got home (his home). Today we went to Starbucks and read a lot more than I thought I would. I seriously can not wait to read the rest of my "bibles". Here are the books we bought:

The book on the bottom right is the book I am currently reading. To be completely honest almost everything that she mentions in the book so far is just confirming the basics that I already know. The only reasons why I know some of her tricks and tips is because I have learned things on my own as well. Fortunate for Lauren she was thought her beauty secrets by talented makeup artists and hair dressers. As for me, youtube is probably as far as it gets. Also trial and error with products is another way I have learned about beauty. I am not knocking this book off completely. She has a lot more information than I ever inherited. There's a lot in this book that many women should take into account in their every day lives. She does not only talk about hair care and make up. It goes beyond that. Beauty is not just about covering it up with hair extensions and the right shade of foundation (yes I did say right shade.. a white mask aint cute honey). Health and fitness is key as well. Taking in the right vitamins and getting enough exercise is part of your beauty. Trust me you will hear a lot from me and Lauren's references.

I was able to dye my hair today! I usually put off retouching my hair. I dyed it the same color nothing bizarre. My hair has been burgundy for years now. Okay maybe two but I dyed it burgundy back in high school. Here is what is looks like in natural lighting (this is not what I JUST dyed it to, these are previous pictures from months ago):

Here is my hair at night with flash (AGAIN this was taken during my anniversary trip to Southern California previous to me dying my hair again):

If you would like to see an updated one with my hair now, feel free to request. OH and speaking of request, I've been getting a lot of requests on how I take care of my hair and how I keep it so vibrant. As I was dying my hair today I got chance to film the process. Unfortunately my camera's battery kept giving up so it will be a little choppy here and there. I could film another one but you would have to wait about two more months until I dye my hair again. As for my hair care, I promise to film that soon. That is all that I got for now! Thank you for sticking by my side! Until next time! Love you!

A Year Gone By

HELLO lovelies! It has been a long time since I have been on this blog. I decided that I should stop making excuses and start REALLY following my dreams. So as many of you know (if not I will explain) I am a makeup artist on the rise. I know I probably exaggerated that a bit but you know what I mean! No but seriously I want to be the best I can be and possibly more. For years now I have been wanting to go to a cosmetology school. I already made my choice in which school. Now I am just trying to make ends meat to get there. As for now while I make enough to put me in the safe side, I figured I would do a lot more than just wait around for my dream. I figured why not build up to my dream and continue blogging and making youtube videos. I fell off pretty hard I must admit but I am back on my feet. I was really hesitant to go back to this specific blog because it is under an email that I no longer want to remember but I didn't want to start over. I told myself that it's not the email that should stop me, I should care less. This is my passion and I am going to stick to it this time. SO LOOK FORWARD TO REVIEWS ON PRODUCTS TO RANDOM BLOGGING! As they say, "IM BACK BITCHES!"

Update for the past year:
Just recently my boyfriend and I celebrated our two year anniversary. *awwwh*
Yes we celebrated it in Southern California, specifically San Diego and Hollywood. I have never been to the zoo in San Diego and I hear a lot of good reviews of the place. I LOVED IT. It is a huge zoo! I felt like I was walking around a whole amusement park. If you ever decided to visit this zoo I suggest riding the tour bus before walking around. This tour gives you a better idea of what you really want to see and where it's located in the park. The tickets are about $40-44. I highly suggest the San Diego Zoo. Also another place to check out in San Diego is Coronado Island. This beach is by far the cleanest beach I know of in California (Santa Monica Beach in LA is another nice beach as well).
In the background you can see the haunted hotel. I dont see whats so scary about it. Up close it looks beautiful. I even want to stay in it and I am one big scary cat. ANYWHO back to my boyfriend and Is anniversary... I have never been so happy in my life with a significant other. I know I know your probably thinking OHH puupppyy love. No if you know me and my past you know that I have grown and I am no longer dealing with that petty ish. Been there done that, Went there and wont go back. I am happy where I am now. Allan (my boyfriend) has molded me into a stronger person and has helped me since day one to reach my goals. He stays updated with me to check on what my plans are and how will I reach my goals. Not only does he asks me but he helps me get there. I've never had so much support in my career choice. He sees the potential that I lack or am too stubborn to see. Every Christmas he has bought me something that I will use in my career path (actually they both already have been put to some good use). I can not thank him enough for the two years we've spent together. I know two years does not seem enough but to me there is no such thing as enough when it comes to how healthy he has made me and how happy I am to be myself in our relationship and with others. There is much more to share but I will save that in another blog.

Today:
I tried ramen for the first time. Well I have made my own ramen before but this is the first time I tried it at a ramen restaurant. Pretty good I must say but next time I will not ask for spice. Lol. Learned that the hard way.
